Fiji Airways Fiji men’s head coach Osea Kolinisau intends to spend more time with his family this year.

The 39-year-old Namuka-i-Lau native has been away from his family.

His wife, Mere Tavu Fa and their children remain in the U.S since he took over the men’s side in March last year. They visit Fiji regularly.

“I just want more family time, win the HSBC SVNS series and just to be a better person than I was last year,” the 2016 Olympic gold medallist said.

‘There were a lot of weaknesses that I can improve on as a person individually which is something that I’m looking forward to.”

Kolinisau led the national men’s side to a silver medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in France four months into his coaching role.

He also guided the team to its first Cup title win in Dubai last month in the SVSNS series after 25 winless run in the world tournaments.

This year, the former captain said he would maintain the consistency of the side’s great performance.

“I’ll probably try and see if I can get more learning from other coaches on what I can improve as a coach,” Kolinisau added.

He is an ambassador at the McDonalds Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament next week at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka; Kolinisau will also name a national side for the three-day com-petition.

His 12-men to the Perth 7s on January 24-26 will be selected following the Coral Coast 7s.

The Fiji men’s rugby sevens team current-ly leads the HSBC SVNS series table with a total of 36 points after two legg; Spain is 4 points behind while France is at number three with 30 points.
