“You just need hard work and with divine intervention to everything will fall in place if you utilise the available resources and put in those hard yards,” he said.

Fiji cruiserweight champion Alivereti Kauyaca is gunning for an impressive win over Paulo Ratumaikoro at the Vodafone Arena in Suva on February 22 if he is to secure major overseas fights.
“I need this win because I’m in a build-up phase,” Kauyaca told SUNsports yesterday.
“I need two or three wins in order to fight for other regional titles, like the one that I fought with John Parker.” Kauyaca said there is a need for boxers to get active at the start of the year.
“We need game time as we need records as we age,” he said.
“I think boxers in Fiji usually blame the lack of resources then how come some Fijian boxers before us were able to rise to the world’s top 15 rankings despite the limited resources here.”
Kauyaca said there is a need for local boxers to be consistent with their boxing.
“You just need hard work and with divine intervention to everything will fall in place if you utilise the available resources and put in those hard yards,” he said.
“The overseas boxers have the resources and strict diet which is why they are able to be consistent in their boxing.”
Kauyaca said the main thing is for boxers to refrain from the typical Fijian mindset.
“After the fight the boxers will drink. Discipline is the key and the need to remain consistent in training.”
Kauayca said he would begin his training as he returns to Nadi after the Bluewater promotions launch.
“We can make our own world champion here in Fiji,” he added.
