The Kadavu women’s team remain resilient in their Fiji McDonald’s Coral coast 7s tournament preparation de-spite facing difficult hurdles.

This is after the team was unable to have proper training due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, head coach Etuate Nauro said there also been low attendance in training by players as they live in different locations.

“We don’t have a proper place to camp at, but I don’t want to pull out of the tournament or let it hinder our preparations,” he said.

“We have a lot of new players, and we are using this tournament as a build-up for the Marama Championship.”

Nauro said their target is to put up a strong performance against their opponents.

“I have advised the players to ap-ply what they learn in training on the field on gameday,” he said.

“I told them to stick to the game-plan if they want to win.”

Nauro said he had advised his players to get exposure and perform to their best.

“This is a chance for them to im-press the national selectors,” he said.

“Most of these girls want to play in the fifteens national team.”

Kadavu is pooled alongside defending Coral coast women’s champions Pacific Nomads, Sea Hawks and Lilian Amazons in Pool C.

“I told the players to commu-nicate and work together on the field and everything will fall into place,” he said.

“We faced a lot of injuries before the Nataleira 7s and only a few girls went over to the tournament in Nausori.”

Nauro said he did not join the team in the Nataleira 7s tourna-ment due to family commitments.

“We had to recruit a few girls from Tailevu in our team in the Nataleira 7s tournament due to the lack of players,” he said.

“I want to invite the supporters of Kadavu rugby to turn up in numbers and cheer on the team at Lawaqa Park next week.”
