Junkyard Dog’ Targets Win Over Drua

At the age of 20, Tim Ryan has scored six tries in the three Super Rugby Pacific matches he has played in.

He scored a hat-trick of tries against the Blues, who are currently leading the competition points table.

Ryan has been named on the bench in today’s clash against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and is expected to come in later in the game.

 

Speaking to SUNsports, he is hopeful of making his first visit a memorable one with a convincing win over the Drua.

Ryan said they have been told to expect a tough battle in Suva.

“This is my first time in Fiji and I’m so excited to be here,” he said.

 

“I know that the Drua love to play on their home ground.

“Obviously my aim for this game is come out with a win. I heard the Drua is a very hard team on their home ground and a win over them will be massive.

“They (Drua) are a great team and it is a first time for me to play against them. They are very talented and we have to take them very seriously.”

 

He made his Super Rugby debut in Round 4 against the Rebels.

While gaining valuable experience off the bench, he made his first start in a thrilling Round 10 encounter against the Blues.

Ryan delivered a sensational performance in his starting debut, scoring a remarkable hat-trick of tries.

His pace and undeniable finishing skills thrust him into the spotlight as a rising star of the super rugby competition. He was nicknamed as “Junkyard Dog” after his six tries in three games.
