Jackson was impressed with Livai Natave and Mesake Doge when they came on as replacements which showed the depth and the positive work that they’re doing.

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua men’s head coach Glen Jackson is positive of a good outing against the Chiefs despite their three consecutive losses.

The Drua were beaten by Brumbies, 32-36, in round one, lost to Hurricanes 34-38 at McLean Park and suffered their third defeat against Waratahs last Friday, 24-29.

They will host the Chiefs at Lautoka’s Churchill Park at 3:35pm this Saturday in round four of the Super Rugby Pacific.

Without a win yet, Jackson said the Drua will need seven wins and few bonus points.

He added the team had the weekend off to rest.

“Keep our positive frame on but then we got a big game against the Chiefs,” he said at the post-match press conference in Sydney.

“We let ourselves down with the Brumbies at home, so it’s going to be good to get back against a very good Chiefs side that we know it’s going to be another tough battle for us. But to get back home into Lautoka will be exciting.”

He added the Super Rugby Pacific has become tougher than previous competitions especially without the Rebels this season.

“It’ll be nice for the boys to get a win, I know they have put a lot of hard work into it,” Jackson said.

“The boys are in good spirits, we have done a few bit of rotations on the last three weeks around our squad. I think everyone’s had a game; it’s what we wanted as we knew the real tough first three weeks, six day turnarounds.

“Big travel from Wellington back to Fiji then here. It’s a place where we talked about as a team that we wanted everyone to put their best foot forward before we go on the road after the Chiefs game to Canberra and Perth.

“I think for the boys they are reasonably positive on how things are going and like I said are disappointed that they haven’t got a win.”

Jackson was impressed with Livai Natave and Mesake Doge when they came on as replacements which showed the depth and the positive work that they’re doing.

“We put a bit of pressure on our bench in the past few weeks around making impact and I thought all of them did well.”

He was also stoked at Tuidraki Samusamuvodre who has been playing since round one.

Another player he was impressed with was young Isaiah Ravula, who made a massive impact when he replaced Caleb Muntz in the second-half.

Jackson said: “We wanted to get the ball a bit wider so he came on and understood that. I think obviously our two wingers got a good pay out of it so I thought his impact was extremely good.”

Captain Tevita Ikanivere was disappointed with the way they gave the game away just before full time.

“Same thing has happened the last three weeks. We’ve been there the whole game and just gave it away the last five, four minutes,” he said.

“I think we have to be better and hopefully we learn now so we can finish the job next (this) week and win.”

He indicated that he questioned a few decision of the match officials’ during their match against Waratahs

“Whatever they (match officials) say goes so everything has to be a sure shot for us, if the referee don’t want to go our way, we can’t control that, but we’ll be better and come out stronger next week.”
