Brumbies superfan Robyn Gurney travelled from Canberra in Australia with best friend Tracey Rawlinson to witness their club become the first Australian Super Rugby club to win on Fijian soil.
“It has been a great and fantastic experience to watch a Super Rugby match in Fiji,” she said.
“I’ve been following the Brumbies since they were made as a team in 1996.”
Gurney said her favourite Brumbies player was current head coach Stephen Larkham.
“I followed him as a player now he’s a coach, loved Henry Speight when he played for the Brumbies,” he said.
“My current crop of players I like to watch are Billy Pollard and Tom Hooper.”
Gurney said she was also keen to learn more about the Fijian Drua.
“The Fijian hospitality has been brilliant as we’ve been out for dinner a few times and the hospitality has been fantastic,” she said.
“The Brumbies team is all about family and I’m assuming it’s the same for the Drua. The team and the supporters.”
Gurney said the depth that the Brumbies possess can create a surprise in this year’s Super Rugby competition.
“I expect good things from the team, watching the two pre-season matches, they showed a lot of depth, energy and a few mistakes but that happens since it is the beginning of the season,” she added.
