Apia, Samoa – 11 September 2025: The HRPP candidate who applied for a recount of the Gagaifomauga 2 constituency election result, has lost two votes in the court recount last night and remains in third place.
The seat is confirmed to have been won by FAST candidate, Foisala Lilo Tu’u Ioane with 334 votes while the applicant, Tologataua Sooalo Sioeli Alofaifo Lamese (HRPP) – was confirmed with 301 votes.
Independent Falesaupule Seimaleula Vaialia Iosua who came in second also lost 1 vote in the court recount.
Five electoral constituencies that have concluded their recount confirms 5 FAST Members of Parliament that include:
- Taituave Lafaitele Valoaga Taaitiiti Iona for Alataua Sisifo
- Auapaau Mulipola Aloitafua Mulipola – Aiga I le Tai
- Taufua Edmund Taufua – Aleipata Itupa I Luga
- Leatigaga Matafai Lauila Iiga – Fa’asaleleaga 1
- Foisala Lilo Tu’u Ioane – Gagaifomauga 2
The remaining constituencies to be recounted today are Satupaitea, A’ana Alofi 2, Aa’ana Alofi 3, Fa’asaleleaga 5 and Sagaga 3.
The recount for the Aiga i le Tai constituency took the whole day yesterday and finished after 10.00pm last night.
Meanwhile the judges have ordered the HRPP lawyers to file further specific grounds for their application to recount the results for ten constituencies.
