Team Four members of Guadalcanal’s 2024-2025 Household Income and Expenditure Survey, HIES, are currently in Naro, Savulei Ward of West Guadalcanal winding up their field work as they prepare to move out into the open seas to their next Enumeration Area in Lambi for round 5 of enumeration.
HIES Coordinator for Guadalcanal Province Alfred Palo visited the team on Wednesday to drop off some supplies they would need to take with them on the trip.
The supplies delivered included life jackets, torches and batteries for the team.
Mr Palo commended team four saying, it is the strongest team he has for Guadalcanal and he would like them to maintain their good performance.
“They are preparing now to move on outside to Lambi then Tiaro and Tangarare. I want to keep in touch with them as they progress.
“From here, they will keep moving on taking breaks in between only to come back for food and banking services until the end of the project in October.”
Meanwhile, team leader Patterson Bololo said his team has shown commitment in carrying out their duties diligently and he is happy with their performance.
He however noted there needs to be some improvement in consistency by the team when answering the questionnaires.
Another point he raised was a common challenge which is the mobile/internet network connection.
This has caused issues of accuracy for the GPS and delay in synching the completed questionnaires.
The team had to walk thirty minutes from where they are currently located to access the network and to check for any rejects or comments from the NSO headquarter.
In the remaining days ahead, the team will complete their questionnaires and stock up on ration before they leave.
The HIES resumed after the Christmas and New Year festivities on January 6th and is now in its 15th week of operation.
The HIES is a 12-month survey under the Building Capacity in Statistics and Audit, CAPSA Project, a jointly funded project between the World Bank and the Solomon Islands Government.
