Head of State signs and returns Warrant of Election

Apia, Samoa – 05 September 2025 – The Head of State, Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi 11, signed and returned the Warrant of Election late this afternoon, confirming the appointment of 50 Members of Parliament duly elected in the 29 August general elections.

The Warrant of Election was signed and issued under Section 84(2) of the Electoral Act 2019 for the named persons to serve as Members of Parliament of the Independent State of Samoa.

Also signed was the warrant confirming the Faleata 2 candidate, Leatinuu Wayne Sooialo who was elected unopposed, making up 51 members of parliament.

What remains now is for Parliament to convene to form the new FAST government to be led by Prime Minister elect, Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi that convincingly won 30 of the 51 seats of parliament with the Opposition HRPP winning 14 seats and the caretaker Prime Minister 3 seats and 4 Independents.

It is expected for Parliament to meet late next week.
