Hatanga Limited has officially signed up as the exclusive platinum sponsor for the Tinakula Festival, enhancing its commitment to cultural preservation and community empowerment in the country.
The signing ceremony, which took place ahead of the two-day celebration on July 26-27 at the Solomon Islands National University Park Village in East Honiara, is a significant milestone in the festival’s development.
The Tinakula Festival celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Temotu Province through traditional dance, music, cuisine, and art.
Festival Chairman Noel Nelu expressed pride in the sponsorship deal, stating, “This year marks the third annual Tinakula Festival, and we are proud of how far we have come in such a short time.
“The support from Hatanga Limited as our platinum sponsor is not just financial; it is a strong endorsement of our vision to unite the people of Temotu and showcase our diverse cultural heritage.”
Mr. Nelu emphasized the importance of the festival, describing it as a movement: “Tinakula is a platform for our people to reconnect with their roots. We are building something that will outlive us and will carry forward with pride.”
Darrel Moli, Hatanga Property Manager shared the company’s motivation for supporting the event.
“We are proud to be part of something that honours our cultures and reminds us of where we come from.
“It is important to celebrate the values, talents, and traditions passed down through generations. Supporting the Tinakula Festival is our way of helping connect the past with the future.”
Mr. Nelu extended his gratitude to Hatanga for their generous support.
“An event of this scale would not be possible without such strong backing. Hatanga’s sponsorship will help us mobilize our community, preserve our cultural expressions, and elevate the voices of Temotu on a national stage.”
The Tinakula Festival, named after the iconic volcanic islands in Temotu, began in 2023 as a grassroots effort by Temotuans living in Honiara.
It has quickly evolved into a flagship celebration of identity and heritage, drawing support from community members, cultural leaders, and visitors from across the country.
