Malaita Kingz FC showed no mercy as they cruised to a commanding 6-0 victory over S-League debutants Ghupo FC in Saturday’s opening match of match-week 7.
With both sides entering the match on the back of wins last weekend, the clash held significant importance for the standings.
The deadlock was finally broken when Alfie Aunga gave the Kingz a well-deserved lead. Just two minutes later, Ben Fox doubled the advantage.
Despite both teams coming out strong after the break, it was Kingz’s experience that proved decisive, netting three goals in just five minutes. With only eight minutes remaining, Ben Fox sealed the win and his hat-trick cementing a 6-0 triumph for the Kingz.
Speaking after the emphatic win, Kingz head coach Eddie Marahare acknowledged the team’s unbeaten run as a testament to their hard work in training.
“I’m happy with today’s result. This victory has given the boys a positive mindset as we reach the midway point of the first round,” said Marahare.
“Our last two draws were against strong title contenders, and while both were tough matches, I’m pleased with how things are going.”
The match also saw the return of team captain Atkin Kaua, who had missed the opening fixtures. Coach Marahare welcomed the boost his presence brings.
“We’re grateful to have Atkin back. He’s settled in well with the team, and although he’s still building his fitness, his return is a positive impact for the club.”
