Galaxy FC of Vanuatu has officially announced the inclusion of Solomon Islands trio Aengari Junior Gagame, Alvin Hou, and Kennedy Watemae, as the club bolsters its squad for the upcoming VFF Champions League, which kicks off on June 10.
The signings come just weeks after the club appointed former Auckland City FC coach Albert Riera to take on the head coaching role.
Speaking on behalf of the trio, former Solomon Warriors FC defender Aengari Junior Gagame told Star Sports that they had been training with the club for over a month and are pleased to have been cleared to play, now that the VFF transfer window is open.
“This will be a new challenge for us, but we are adapting gradually to the style of football and the new environment. We are blending well with the team,” Gagame said.
In addition to the former Solomon Warriors trio, Galaxy FC has also welcomed former Auckland City FC player Kailan Jay Gould and Vanuatu international Claude Aru into their squad.
This year’s VFF Champions League will see Galaxy FC placed in Pool A alongside M3 FC (Tafea FA champions), Spirit FC (Penama FA champions), and the Shefa FA champions, who are yet to be determined.
The VFF Champions League is Vanuatu’s premier national club competition, featuring eight top teams from the country’s eight Football Associations (FA), with the winner earning a spot in the prestigious OFC Champions League.
