Vare–Tutty Adventist Primary School of Dovele, Vella La Vella, Western Province have been gifted with school furniture from ‘Friends of Solomon Islands’ based in Australia.
The donated furniture included; chairs and desks.
And this has boosted the learning experience of the students, said, School Headmaster Daromae Aseri.
About 50 chairs and 25 school desks were sent by the Friends of Solomon Islands based in Australia.
This organization was led by Dr Alex Currie and his group of supporters.
Mr. Aseri said, the school furniture were shipped to the Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) office of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Honiara which were later shipped to the school.
It was revealed Vare-Tutty Adventist Primary school initially made a request and was excited when the chairs and tables were dispatched.
The principal said, the students were very excited after being allocated with the chairs and desks
“This will improve their classroom learning experience,” he said.
Furthermore, Mr. Aseri explained that for many years, the school has been using wooden benches and desks on its classes.
He said while the gifts of chairs and tables will not be sufficient for the 167 students of the school, the gifts received so far will go a long way in meeting the school’s future expansion plan.
“The School Board plans to renovate and improve the learning environments for the children of Dovele who start their education journey at Vare -Tutty Adventist Primary School.”
Mr. Aseri thanked the ‘Friends of Solomon Islands’ that assisted in shipping the furniture to Honiara.
He further acknowledged the Member of Parliament (MP) North Vella La Vella Clezy Rore in supporting the transportation of the furniture from Honiara to Gizo.
Aseri also thanked the Education Department of Solomon Island SDA Mission through community members who helped to bring the furniture to the school.
Volunteers and parents of Vare – Tutty Primary School have also been acknowledged for their support to transport the furniture from Gizo to the school on four separate outboard motor-powered boats on October 10, 2024.
