The country’s rugby fraternity mourns the death of former Flying Fijians lock forward, Ilisoni Taoba.
He passed away in Suva on Thursday.

The country’s rugby fraternity mourns the death of former Flying Fijians lock forward, Ilisoni Taoba.
He passed away in Suva on Thursday.
Taoba was a member of the national rugby team that beat the British Lions 25-21 here in 1977.
Hailing from Tubou, Lakeba in Lau, Taoba made his Test debut for the Flying Fijians on August 31, 1974 against the Maori All Blacks and his last Test match was on October 16, 1982 against England in Twickenham.
He also played for Nadroga when they held the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy from 1971 to 1979, a record that still stands today.
He was a former executive of the Fiji Development Bank and former chairman of the Lau Provincial Council.
Taoba was 72 years-old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife, nine children and 16 grandchildren.
In accordance to his wishes, there’ll be no reguregu and his home going service will on Monday at 9am at the Yarawa Methodist Church before completing all the funeral rituals at the Dignified Cremations in Nasinu.
