Yarralumla Beach East on Lake Burley Griffin will have a floating sauna by early next year following final approval by the National Capital Authority.
The approval follows the granting of a licence for the sauna’s operation to Providence NDR, which also operates the Lake Derby Floating Sauna in Tasmania, in March 2024 and public consultation on the proposed location, design and materials in August.
The NCA says floating saunas are popular around the world and combine the relaxation and wellness aspects of saunas with the option for people to plunge directly into water for a refreshing experience afterwards.
“One of their primary advantages is the stunning scenery they provide, offering picturesque views of natural landscapes, waterways, and skylines,” the NCA says.
