Team Solomon Islands has secured its first medal at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau, thanks to long-distance runner Geejay Junior, who claimed silver in the men’s 10,000 meters on Friday morning July 4.
The lad from Vonunu in the Western Province clocked a time of 33. 14 to earn Silver for Team Solomon.
Geejay finished second behind Kent Hugh of Guam, with Kagl Siune of Papua New Guinea taking bronze.
Geejay will continue his campaign in Palau, with the 5,000 meters and half marathon still to come.
