Playing for head coach Mosese Rauluni for the last time should inspire the Vodafone Fijian XV to do the impossible against Spain in their final match of the WXV 3 in Dubai tomorrow.

Rauluni tendered whis resignation on Tuesday after the Fijiana XV’s 45-17 thrashing to Samoa.

Rauluni took the Fijian Drua to their third consecutive Super W Grand-final this year and led the Fijiana XV team to the Oceania Championship where they won and qualified for next year’s Rugby World Cup.

He also coached the Fijiana to record their first win against Japan. Rauluni has led the transition of the programme through centralisation in Nadi, which has been an exciting chapter for the players and staff along with the vision of what our pathway future looks like. His work saw the rise of players like Atelaite Buna, Salanieta Kinita and Repeka Tove.

According to the Fiji Rugby Union, this would be Rauluni’s final assignment before he joins his family Brisbane, Australia.

FRU chief executive officer Rovereto Nayacalevu said they would begin the process of finding a suitable replacement for Rauluni as head coach of the Fijiana XV and Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua teams.

“We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and hope he finds joy and fulfillment with his family in Australia,” he said.

The Fiji versus Spain clash kicks-off at 4.30am and shown live on Sky Pacific.
