The Fiji Airways Fiji men’s and women’s rugby sevens teams have reached the Cup semi-finals of the Vancouver Sevens in Canada.
This morning at 8.52am the Jeremaia Matana captained-men’s side takes on South Africa in the second Cup semi-final and following that is Fiji women’s team taking on Japan at 9.14am.
The Timoci Volavola-coached women’s side found their mojo in the final pool match against France where they won 24-12. This was after losing their opening pool match 14-12 to Japan and Great Britain 24-21.
Then in their Cup quarterfinal, they thrashed Brazil 46-0. The other Cup semifinal is between Australia and New Zealand.
The Fiji men’s side continued their unbeaten run when they beat Spain 26-21 in their final pool game before walloping Great Britain 24-0 in the Cup quarterfinal.
The competition ends today.
