The Fiji Water Flying Fijians are playing four Test matches against Tier One teams this year.

This was confirmed on Tuesday night after the Autumn Nations Series fixtures were released, indicating that the Mick Byrne-coached Flying Fijians will play England on November 8-9, followed by France on November 15-16.

The Flying Fijians beat England 30-22 for the first time in Twickenham on August 26, 2023. On August 19, 2023, the Fijians went down 34- 17 to France.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer Rovereto Nayacalevu said from the confirmation of dates and oppositions, there are other works that needed to be done.

“At this point in time discussions are ongoing in terms of finalisation of agreements which includes venues and other logistics,” he said.

Nayacalevu highlighted that from FRU’s perspective playing against the best rugby nations is always advantageous for Fiji not only as we build-up to the 2027 Rugby World Cup but more so as a consistent measure of performance for the Flying Fijians.

When asked if the Flying Fijians are playing a third Test match during that Europe tour, Nayacalevu said they are also playing Spain either in Madrid or Valladolis on November 22.

In the mid-year Test matches the Flying Fijians take on the Australian Wallabies on July 5 in Newcastle.

Then on July 12, they face Scotland here with the venue yet to be decided. The final Test is on August 30 against Tonga, which will also be played here.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fijiana XVs will play two Test matches against USA here on July 19 and 26. The other Test match is against Samoa on August 9. This is part of their build-up to the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England from August 22 to September 27.
