Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) president Rajesh Patel is disappointed with the Fijian Kula’s performance at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) women’s nations cup.
Patel made these comments during his address at the Fiji FA Council meeting at their Vatuwaqa headquarters yesterday.
He said the board is reviewing coach Angeline Chua’s contract; She was appointed on March 1, 2023.
“I must express my disappointment with the performance so far of our Kula girls having spent a fortune in flying six overseas girls at the coach’s request but hardly anyone except Cema Nasau was used; in other games few other girls were used,” he said.
“We simply had no structure at all.
“We will seriously need to re-look at replacing the coach and her contract expires in February 2026.
“We are already looking at how we can replace the women’s coach before the women’s world cup qualifier in November.”
The Kulas finished fourth; they lost to Samoa, 2-0, in the third place play-off at the HFC Bank Stadium last Saturday.
Patel also congratulated newly elected vice presidents Rayaz Khan (Northern) and Ritesh Pratap (Southern) while Mere Veikata is the new women’s vice president.
Nadroga football president Mun Sami Chetty was also appointed as an executive board member of Fiji FA.
