Apia, Samoa – 09 September 2025 – Caretaker Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa has finally conceded and congratulated Laaulialemalietoa and the FAST Party following the election results were confirmed in a warrant by the Head of State last Friday.
In a midday live broadcast today, Fiame acknowledged the winning Party and leader Laaulialemalietoa, “who will steer our country as Prime Minister, into the future.”
“I congratulate the Prime Minister-elect, the Honourable Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi. I pray for wisdom and courage upon you, to carry the mantle of leadership with dedication and integrity.
“The Head of State has proclaimed next Tuesday, 16 September for the convening of the 18th parliament, let us all move forward to meet this new chapter in our country’s political journey, with faith, steadfast and thankful hearts,” the caretaker Prime Minister concluded.
Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxton, congratulated the Prime Minister-elect, over the weekend.
