Sixteen year-old weightlifter Nehemiah Elder smashed nine records and won three gold medals at the Pacific Mini Games in Koror, Palau, last night.
The World Youth champion was in devastating form in the men’s 88kg category with a record breaking snatch of 155kg. This amazing lift saw him set new Oceania Youth, Junior, Senior, and Pacific Mini Games records.
Elder said there was a lot of hard work put into his training.
“I’m so thankful to Jesus Christ and through Him I’m always amazed at what I can achieve,” he said.
Elder said his focus was to get to the first gold medal and once it was done, he took it on from there.
“I had some ups and down during training with things like injuries but things kept on going well,” he added.
