The 2025 Super Rugby Women’s competition released yesterday sees the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women host two matches.
A top two finish in the regular season will see the Drua Women host another potential semi-final in Fiji. The 2025 season will also introduce a first ever Super Rugby Champions final, with the winner of Super Rugby W taking on the winner of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki.
The Drua will host the Reds in Lautoka on March 8- International Women’s Day– as part of an exciting double header at Churchill Park. The match will kick-off at 1.05pm before the Drua Men take on Chiefs at 3.30pm.
A week later, the Drua Women take on a strong Brumbies Women’s outfit on Saturday, March 15, as a standalone match kicking off at 3.30pm. That match will be another Saturday afternoon thriller at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
The Fijian Drua Women kick-off the season against the Waratahs at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney on February 28. The side then returns home for the matches against the Reds and the Brumbies. The Drua will play their final regular season match away against the Western Force at the HBF Park in Perth on March 23.
The Super Rugby W semi-finals will be held on the weekend of April 5, with the top two ranked sides hosting. The Grand Final will be held on Saturday, April 12 with the crossover final between the Super Rugby Women’s and Super Rugby Aupiki Champions taking place on April 17.
Fijian Drua chief executive officer Mark Evans said they won Super Rugby Women two years in the row (2022 and 2023) and were runners up in 2024.
“We obviously want to return to the winner’s podium in 2025 but we know it will not be easy,” he said.
“We’re in a rebuilding phase for our women’s programme this year. We have a new interim head coach who is working on building more depth and a bigger pool of players to draw from.
“We have made significant investments in facilities in the off-season for the Drua Women so they will return to pre-season in early December with dedicated resources and the best possible preparation for 2025.
Evans added that hosting two matches in Fiji in 2025 is great for our fans, who will be ready to cheer for their Drua teams at the double header and also at the standalone matches.
“Having the Drua Women take the field on International Women’s Day is particularly exciting for us and we’ll already planning on making that day a special experience for our fans,” he added.
