The Dominion Brothers Youth team manager Manasa Moto indicated that the McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s tournament will be a platform to expose their players.

“It is our second week of preparation, and the players are aware of what’s required from them,” he said.

“We often face a lot of challenges like food and the transport for the players.”

Moto said they continue to progress with their training and preparation despite the lack of sponsorship.

“We often receive a few funds from senior players who are now playing overseas. These players give back to the club and support the new younger players,” he said.

“Our target is to progress to the Cup final and defend the title.”

Moto said rugby is an avenue that can help these players earn a living and support their families.

“Most of these youths have dropped out of school and they are using rugby as an opportunity,” he said.

“Challenges are inevitable, but we are teaching these youths to be more disciplined and know the rules of the game.”

Moto said he has seen a lot of rule changes in sevens rugby.

“We are teaching to maintain their fitness and improve their skills on the field,” he said.

“I urge all the family of Dominion Brothers to turn up in the three-day tournament and cheer on the team next week.”

Dominion Brothers is in pool A alongside Tuva Youth, Pacific Nomads and Nauru rugby.
