Year nine student Isireli Digitaki is grateful for the experience he gained in the Fiji Golf open. The Nabua Secondary School student participated in the junior category tournament at the Fiji golf club in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.
“It’s my first time participating in the Fiji golf open and I’m happy with my scores,” he said.
“I think the pressure got to me with many bad swings that put me off my game.
Digitaki said he was glad to be playing alongside his two uncles and older siblings at the tournament.
They won prizes including electrical appliances.
“We can’t afford some of these items, but we are able to win it for free so we are so proud when we get something.”
Digitaki said he found it difficult to lift his golf bag and play as it easily cause fatigue.
“I need to work on controlling the pressure to improve on my performance in the next tournament,” he said.
“I want to thank God for giving me the strength to go through this three day tournament.”
Digitaki also acknowledged Complete insurance services for the payment of his golf membership.
“Without their sponsorship, I wouldn’t be able to play in the tournament.
“I would also like to thank Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci in helping other juniors and I playing in this tournament.”
He also thanked Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for sponsoring 10 juniors for free entry in the tournament.
“Most of us juniors playing the tournament can’t afford to pay for the entry fee,” he said.
“I would like to thank my family and teachers for their support and advise in order for me to pull through this tournament.”
