Sky News host Peta Credlin says Energy Minister Chris Bowen released figures indicating costs for replacing coal plants with nuclear.
Ms Credlin notes the figures are nowhere near as much as the cost of going down Mr Bowen’s “mad” net zero path
“Australia would need to find $1.5 trillion by the end of this decade to have any hope of meeting its 2050 net zero target,” she said.
“That is just the beginning, by 2060, Australia would need to spend $9 trillion to get net zero via wind, solar, batteries, pumped hydro, hydrogen and expand the transmission infrastructure.
“It’s up to 23 times more expensive than if we went nuclear and that’s using the figures from Bowen’s own department.”
