Central Kwara’ae MP addresses poor road condition

THE Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Kwara’ae Constituency Ricky Fuo’o is addressing the urgent need to repair the Afio/Fulisango road feeder roads in his constituency.

Since early 2023, the state of the road has rendered it inaccessible, critically impacting the transport of local produce to the Auki market.

The Afio/Fulisango Road Emergency Maintenance Project is being executed by Trades Transformation Company Ltd (TTC), a local construction firm based in Auki.

These emergency repairs came after it was neglected for so long making the road impassable, disrupting daily life and hindering the movement of goods and services.

For many residents, particularly the most vulnerable, these roads are more than just a transportation route; it is a lifeline.

Farmers, traders, and families who rely on dependable infrastructure have struggled to bring their produce to market, significantly affecting their income.

MP Ricky Fuo’o had earlier emphasized, “Infrastructure is the backbone of any community. By fixing this road, we are not just providing transportation; we are creating opportunities for our people to thrive. This project is just the beginning; we are only getting started.”

He urged resource owners along the Afio road to cooperate with the contractor by allowing access to gravel necessary for the maintenance work.

“Your support is vital for the smooth execution of this project until its successful completion,” he added.

He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) for allocating an initial tranche of $600,000 from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which has enabled his office to fund the emergency road repairs.

“This repair is just the beginning of a long journey toward a brighter future,” MP Fuo’o stated.

Currently, he and his office bearers are on a two-week constituency tour in Auki, meeting with local leaders to identify priority projects and gather data for the constituency’s four-year development plan.

The MP will visit several communities, including Busufoosae, Arabala Aisalinga, Maoro, and Kunugwaugwau, to engage with residents, update them, and discuss their needs.
