Defence and discipline are two key areas of concern for the Flying Fijians in today’s Pacific Nations Cup opener against Samoa at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
This was highlighted yesterday by Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere.
The 24-yea r -old hooker told SUNsports that they need to be switched on throughout the game.
“There is a saying that goes only good enough if we do the work,” he said.
Ikanivere has called on rugby fans to come out in numbers and support the new-look Flying Fijians.
“I’m up for the challenge and I thank God for picking me (as captain) to do his work on earth,” he said.
Ikanivere said he is expecting a torrid encounter against the Samoans.
“We are a young team but there are lots of leaders in this team, which makes my work easier on and off the field because everyone takes care of themselves.”
After two tough training sessions, Ikanivere said they are targeting to win their first PNC match.
The match kicks-off at 6pm.
