The Cote d’Ivoire born boxer Samuel ‘King’ Moses is here to learn and share his boxing knowledge.

The Canadian based boxer is in the country to face Simione Natu of Lautoka in the 3×3 bout under the South Pacific Boxing banner at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.

Moses had moved to Canada when he was 11; he picked up boxing as a sport at the age of 17.

The 31-year-old is currently the 81kg British Colombia provincial champ and 81 kg national medallist.

He also trained in Mexico under the legendary Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Beristain who trained boxers like Juan Manuel Marquez. Marquez had beaten Manny Pacquiao.

“I have been in very rigorous training there. And fought with Marquez as well and now I am in Fiji and looking forward to my opponent,” Moses said.

Raincity Boxing Club co-owner/co-coach Steve Sayvong who has been in boxing for over 10 years is here with Moses.

“Samuel (Moses) has been training in our club and he is a promising boxer, we have brought him to Fiji for exposure,” Sayvong said.

“We need Sam to be exposed to different opponents. We thank Wasim Janif, the nephew of SPBP director Mohammed Shameem for making it possible.”

The weigh-in gets underway at Nair Dias in Nadi tomorrow at 2pm. The programme on the fight night starts at 5pm.
