The Amitesh Chandra captained- Bula Boys Nadi scored a total of 610 points to clinch the Friends of Fiji Tournament 2025 at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club yesterday.

Bula Boys Nadi had the services of Rahiul Kumar, Gerald Sharma, Kavitesh Prasad, Kishore Kumar, Azam Khan, Abid Hussain, and Master Arvind Kumar from Melbourne, Australia, who played well since Sunday.

“This is a great morale booster as the majority of the players will compete in the GM Motors Fiji Classics, which gets underway on Thursday,” Chandra said.

“The Nadi Bula Boys team has created history as our names are being etched in the Shield. All the players played exceptionally well in the three-day event.”

The John Prasad captained- Labasa Lions settled into second spot with 601 points, ahead of Rohit Naidu’s captained Club 8 (595 points), and ahead of Munesh Prasad’s Bula Boys General Denarau (593 points).

Organiser and tournament chairman Pravin Singh said the next tournament would be held at the end of 2027 in Sydney, New South Wales.

“Bula Boys Nadi became the first Fijian team to win the event since the inaugural 2019 event in Brisbane,” said Singh.

“This is the fifth edition of the tournament in seven years. This event is done in 16-18 months.

“We wanted to create a tournament for Friends of Fiji Australia, then from around the world, for a competition of golf. This is the biggest golf platform in other areas, but at the team event.”

The players for the GM Motors Fiji Classic Golf 2025 will converge for the last practice day as well.

WHAT’S ON TODAY

Meanwhile, the inaugural AHICE Fiji Charity Golf Day presented by Tappoo will be hosted at the same venue today.

The golf day will be in the format of two- or four-ball Ambrose teams, depending on numbers, with approximately 48 players.

“The AHICE conference, now in its second year in Fiji, has become an important event in Fiji’s calendar,” said Tappoo Group of Companies executive director Kaushal Tappoo.

He said the conversations around market trends, newness and initiatives by Hoteliers, the need to come together as an industry with owners, stakeholders, and the Government, have become critical to the success of Fiji’s tourism industry.

“The golf event will be a fun day where the industry will get together on a light note to raise funds for charity. This shows the commitment of AHICE’s principal James Wilkinson that this is not only an important industry conference but also helps those in times of need. Tappoo are proud to be Principal Partners of AHICE,” said Tappoo.

All funds raised will go entirely to charity, courtesy of Tappoo. Only 20 spots are available.
