The late Ubayed Haider’s brother Sebastian Singh has called for fair play. He was reacting to the final report of Raider’s death findings being tabled in Parliament yesterday by the Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru.

“How has the Minister of Sports, come up with a verdict without the final report on the investigation of my brother’s death,” Singh told SUN sports.

“It seems like there’s a certain level of biased decisions made. I’ve read the preliminary report and I ask the minister to be fair.”

When approached the Board of Inquiry (B.O.I) chairman Edwin Wainiqolo said the report read in Parliament by Saukuru was the final one.

However, he admitted that they did not interview the promoter Freddy Chand who now lives in Sydney, Australia. Chand had told the B.O.I that he wanted his lawyer to be present during the interview, which did not happen.

Singh who is also a cruiserweight boxer questioned why the investigation report did not take the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) and the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) to task since they sanctioned the promotion and it is their responsibility to ensure that all regulations are followed.

Promoter’s reply

Meanwhile, the South Pacific Boxing Promotions is going to court to take further action against the Boxing Commission of Fiji and all stakeholders involved.

Speaking from Sydney, Australia, yesterday promoter Freddy Chand said they were ready from day one for the interview with the Board of Inquiry (B.O.I).

“My only request was for my lawyer to be present. My lawyer wanted a few things clarified before the interview which they didn’t get back to him and we had been waiting ever since,” Chand said.

”Already we’ve a case with BCF in high court and the next hearing is in May.

“Now, I have instructed my lawyers to take further action.”
