ROYALS Football Academy’s (RFA’s) Rovu Ernest Boyers is set to wear the famous green, blue and yellow jersey for the first time when the National Men’s Soccer go up against New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea for their two group A matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 – Oceania Qualifiers.
Twenty-one (21) year old Boyers was called up into the Solomon Islands National Team final 23-men squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026—Oceania Qualifiers in Papua New Guinea.
His inclusion in the national team is truly a milestone for him as this has been his dream.
Boyers’ inclusion in the senior team is a triumph built on faith, hard work, and love for soccer and has landed him with stints with clubs across continents under RFA.
According to sources, Boyers has spent much of his youth development under the RFA outside of Solomon Islands and most recently, he played senior football in Greece and Sweden.
Boyers started his football development in 2018 with the Stars Football Academy and later had stints with various clubs across England, including Eastbourne United AFC, Hollington FC and Eastbourne Borough U23s.
Boyers’ determination for continued development took him on a journey to Episkopi FC in Greece and eventually to Syrianska FC in Sweden.
After spending approximately five years abroad, young Boyers returned to Australia, taking a six-month break to reconnect with family and there, he got the call to join the national team’s extended squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026—Oceania Qualifiers in PNG.
Boyers’ quality display on the pitch earned him a spot in the Solomon Islands national team final 23-men squad.
Boyers told SIFF media when he was called up into the final 23-men squad that representing Solomon Islands on the international stage has been an opportunity of a lifetime for him.
“It feels great to represent Solomon Islands and this opportunity is a chance for us to embrace ourselves as one,” Boyers said.
Boyers’ football career development highlights RFA as a key institution for the nurturing young football talents in the country over the years.
The RFA pathway in developing young football talents has been instrumental in developing some of the current players in the national squad and the national team’s latest inclusion Boyers.
