2025 will be a big year for Fiji Futsal, says national coach Jerry Sam.

He was impressed with the players’ performance during the Extra Supermarket Futsal Inter-District Championship (IDC)

Sam applauded Extra for sponsoring the tournament which will help develop the sport in the country.

“If we want to see our futsal team improve we have to invest in this, I’m really thankful for Extra,” he said.

“We have a lot of OFC futsal championship coming up and its big year next year that we have to prepare for. We will also host the club championship.

“I’ve identified some talents within this tournament (IDC) that I can call them for training camp.”

Sam is looking at a 30-member squad for a training camp next March.

He will also conduct a trial for those who did not participate at the IDC and wishes to show their talent to be part of the national side.

“I kindly ask if those who are not part of this IDC, to come next year for open trial for of men’s futsal land.”

Futsal IDC champions Suva will play at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) championship in Suva.

Sam has offered his to help the Capital City side if they need his technical expertise.

“I’m looking at those that can last for within a 40 minutes in the futsal court, not really the veteran players, but the young players that are still active.

“I’ll finalise probably 20 players for almost six weeks and then we’ll trim it down for the final team.”
