It’s a do-or-die effort for the Kadavu women’s rugby team when they tackle Tailevu in this weekend’s promotion relegation competition.

The Royal Tea Ranadi champs need to beat Tailevu and make their way to next season’s Marama Championship.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Kadavu women’s rugby head coach Etuate Nauro said he was pleased with the team’s 69–12 thrashing of Navosa, which was a perfect platform to launch their final attack and get promoted.

“These players are replicating on the field what they were taught in training,” he said.

“I have a lot of good players and I’ve told them that we must win to ensure a spot in the Marama Championship.”

“We want to give Tailevu a good game. A win against Tailevu or Cakaudrove will cement our spot in the Marama Championship for 2025,” he said.

“The players will not take Tailevu lightly because they defeated Cakaudrove last week.”

Nauro has advised his players to give their best performance against Tailevu to ensure a win.

“The players have told me that they’ll try their best to win their last two remaining promotion relegation matches,” he said.

“The players are looking forward to the match against Tailevu and are eager to challenge them right to the final whistle.”

Staying alive

Meanwhile, Cakaudrove women’s rugby team is going to work on their discipline and decision making before they return to Viti Levu to take on Navosa.

Head coach Ana Seru said these are two critical components they have work on to keep their promotion hopes alive.
