When 19-year-old Jordan Miller came to Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022, he had no clue that he would return with the Vodafone Fiji Bati side two years later.
This has been the highlight of his rugby league career so far.
The towering prop was born and bred in Australia, his father is from Savusavu.
He said that he is making the most of it with the Bati senior players and NRL players that he grew up watching.
These players include Storm’s Tui Kamikamica, Maika Sivo and Viliame Kikau.
He was grateful to coach Waisake Kativerata for giving him the call and he made his debut for the Bati.
Miller started from the bench.
“I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” he said.
“I’m only 19 training with these boys in camp still feels surreal to me- like all the big names.
“It’s pretty crazy that I’m training with them. I didn’t think it would come this early, but, I’m grateful for the opportunity to come here.
“It means a lot,” Miller added.
Miller indicated that he has learnt a lot from the team culture the past week.
“Everything’s good – we have devotion twice a day. There’s a lot of energy, so the camp’s never down, it’s a fun camp to be in.”
Miller signed a three-year contract with the Tigers this year and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans; Tigers won 18-10.
He was awarded the player’s player, best and fairest player at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s in September 2022 during their Junior Representative Award night.
