The Labasa football men’s side will not let their guard down in the remaining eight matches in their quest to win the Extra Premier League (EPL) title.

Labasa coach, Alvin Chand, said yesterday they are preparing for their EPL clash against visitors Rewa at Subrail Park.

Chand said winning against Rewa would determine their chances.

He said they do not want to lose track of this consistent form and to continue on with their winning run.

“We have a good number of home games and we need to prepare well to win all home games,” he said.

Labasa hosts Nadroga, Lautoka, Nadi, Rewa and Navua in the second round of the EPL with the target to gain 15 points from these games.

The Babasiga Lions have played both home and away against Nasinu in the EPL winning both times 4-2 (home) and 6-0 (away).

Chand said players like striker, Christopher Wasasala, Akeimi Ralulu, Lekima Gonerau, Anish Khem, Ashnil Raju and Jimson Abana shoulder the responsibility of winning the EPL title this season.

He said every player in the side should maintain discipline and have been urged to avoid getting cards.

“Playing a controlled possession based game helps our team focus on our attacking game,” Chand said.

He said the aim is to win all tournaments and believed targets should be made to break records because nothing is impossible.

Chand emphasised for more awareness in ball play to avoid unconstructive game from arising.

He added they have had their sights of winning the Battle of Giants (B.O.G) title at home.
