The Selita Bainivalu-captained Ba Methodist High School will face Nasikawa Vision College in the Weetbix Western Under 16 Raluve Championship at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday,
The Matavelo, Nailaga Villagebased institution defeated Ra High School 15-0 last Saturday during the Ba/Tavua/Rakirak/Nadarivatu rugby zone final at Garvey Park in Tavua.
Team coach Isoa Ranitu said thegirls have been working hard to claim a place in the nationals.
“Last year the side lost to eventual winner Sigatoka Methodist College in the semi-final of the Western Champion so we will up our game this time,” Ranitu said.
“We have to improve on our weakness, get the basics right. Since it is the knockout out we have to follow the game plan.”
The side is banking on the experience of Selite Bainivalu (full-back), Elenoa Mole (first-five-eight) Bulou Raijieli (winger), and Louise Niubalavu (second-five-eight).
Bainivalu featured predominantly for Tiliva Bukuya in the Rooster Chicken Tikina Cup (Ba Rugby Women Championship) last season.
She won a gold medal in the Coke Games sub -junior high jump last year. She is the sister of Ba Rugby rep Ponipate Bainivalu who played an instrumental role in the Skipper Cup this season.
The Ba Methodist versus Nasikawa Vision College kicks off at 11 am.
