Asilaua urges community support for projects

THE Premier of Malaita Province, Elijah Asilaua has called on all residents and communities of the province to support its ongoing development projects.

Two major development projects underway in Malaita are the Kilu’ufi Hospital Improvement Project funded by Japan and the Auki Tar Sealing Project funded by the People’s Republic of China.

For the Kilu’ufi Hospital Improvement Project, construction machineries have arrived in Auki, signaling the soon commencement of the road tar-sealing works.

The road tar-sealing project is also moving forward with the survey and design teams now working on-site.

In addition, the Premier Asilaua highlighted emergency roadworks on the Auki-Bina section of the SouthRoad funded by the Australian government.

A feasibility study for the proposed tar-sealing of the Auki-Bina road section has also begun.

Premier Asilaua emphasized that the success of these projects depends on the support of local communities.

He urged everyone in the province to cooperate to ensure the smooth completion of these developmentactivities, which he emphasized as crucial to improving the lives of rural residents in Malaita.

“These projects are long-overdue and will address the pressing needs of our province. They are opportunities that we must all support for the benefit of current and future generations,” Premier Asilaua said.

Once these projects come to completion, the premier said they will significantly improve services in Malaita and address basic service needs across the province.

Premier Asilaua expressed his government’s pleasure in seeing the Kilu’ufi Hospital and Auki Tar Sealing Projects move forward.

He reiterated that his administration welcomes any development initiative that benefits Malaita and its people.
