The newly established Ascension Parish in Central Kwara’ae, Malaita Province, ended its first Sunday school rally over the weekend at Aitolo village.
The three-day program brought together Sunday school groups from Kwalo and Alita, Okwala, Fera Kaura, and Aitolo. Children, teachers, and parents all joined to witness and celebrate under the theme: “Grew in wisdom and stature, in favor with God and men.”
Parish chairperson Gibson Ado said the event was a big success for the new parish, which only recently separated from Aisiko Parish.
“It is not easy to host such a program, but we must thank God for His wisdom that helped us to make it happen,” Mr. Ado said.
He added that the rally was very meaningful because it gave the children a chance to learn more about God while also enjoying fellowship with each other.
Over the three days, the children joined in many activities including Bible teachings, quiz questions, sports, singing, and live entertainment from the Be Simple band. Teachers and parents also supported by helping with food and guiding the children in their activities.
Mr. Ado said the gathering showed unity and teamwork in the young parish. “We are just starting, but we have learned a lot from this event and will improve on future programs next year,” he explained.
Many community members also praised the event, saying it not only built the children’s faith but also strengthened relationships between the different villages. The rally ended on Sunday afternoon with a thanksgiving service and prayers for the parish’s future.
