APPLICATIONS for all 2026 government scholarships will open in two weeks time.
This was revealed by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) on Wednesday through its Minister Tozen Leokana at the launch of the Solomon Islands Tertiary Education and Skills Plan (SITESAP) 2026.
The application window will run from July 14 to September 14, 2025, closing at 11:59 pm. This marks the first phase of implementation for the government’s new strategic education framework, which aims to align scholarship awards with national workforce priorities and institutional capacity.
During the period interested students and working-class people can apply for scholarships.
There are a total of 1,445 scholarships available with both Pre-Service and In-Service professionals and 88% of these are for local institution while the other 12% were for overseas training in high priority sectors such as health, maritime, and engineering.
Also, a new model is introduced – a tuition only scholarship option to expand access for academically qualified students, particularly at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU).
Minister Leokana emphasized that the SITESP 2026 rollout reflects the government’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and long-term national development.
The plan is to designed to ensure that the scholarship investments are, data-driven, sector aligned, and fiscally sustainable.
