Alleged attempted abduction of 12-year-old child in Suva City – The Fiji Times

The alleged abduction of a 12-year-old child on March 5 near the Sacred Heart Cathedral has been highlighted on social media.

Beryl Lemeki said her younger sister was walking up to school when a well-dressed and groomed woman tried to grab her.

“As my sister kept pushing her away breaking free from that woman’s grip, she kept going to try and pull my sister in the opposite direction of St Annes and telling her she would go and drop my sister in school,” said Ms Lemeki.

“My sister kept telling her “NO!” trying to break free and continue with her walk to school.”

“Luckily a man who had finished mass noticed this and walked straight to them and asked my sister if she had known her to which my sister replied, “I don’t know her at all and she’s trying to take me somewhere”.

“This incident happened right in front of Sacred Heart Cathedral opposite Totogo Police Station car park entrance.”

“Out of everyone there, only ONE man noticed my sister struggling with this stranger. Bless that man.”

“We’ve spoken to my sister to scream and shout out in such incidents and to be aware of her surroundings and to ensure people are always around.”
