A 22 year-old man accused of damaging the rear- view mirror of a parked vehicle at Naha Heights, East Honiara last October will confirm his legal representation on July 10.
Rocky Hausi faces one count of malicious injuries.
He appeared in the Honiara Magistrate’s Court yesterday on police bail and the court has imposed bail conditions on him.
Principal Magistrate Elma Veenah Rizzu Hilly who mentioned the matter last Thursday, however, recused herself, due to conflict of interest.
She and her colleague Principal Dalcy Belapitu Oligari who mentioned the matter on the last court date, have recused themselves because they knew the complainant in this matter.
The Prosecution informed the court that investigations are now complete and they will serve disclosures once Hausi confirmed his legal representation.
Hausi told the court he was told to return to the Public Solicitor’s Office in the afternoon.
Magistrate Hilly adjourned the matter to July 10, to allow time for Hausi to get a lawyer.
Prosecution alleged that about 3am on 30 October 2024, the defendant was under the influence of liquor and damaged the rear mirror of the complainant’s vehicle.
The complainant parked his vehicle outside his residence, just beside the road at Naha Heights.
During that time, it was alleged the defendant who was under the influence of liquor, walked along the road.
When he saw the parked vehicle, he damaged the rear view mirror of it.
The defendant also allegedly kicked the neighbor’s fence causing fear to them.
The total value of damage on the vehicle was $1,400.
The complainant in this matter was not happy with the defendant and formally lodged his statement to the police, resulting in the defendant’s arrest.
