Python snake spotted in Queensland, Australia.
A family in Australia got the fright of their lives when they saw a massive snake slithering across the roof of their home and into trees in their garden.
The 5m-long carpet python was spotted in southeast Queensland, where the reptiles are common.
As the snake appears off the family’s roof, the people filming it can’t believe its size.
“Oh my god, that is feral,” a woman can be heard saying.
At one point the python turns its head towards the onlookers and a child bursts into tears, a man urging her to “be brave”.
“How will we get him away?” a child asks. “We won’t,” a woman replies.
“Dad could be able to catch him.”
“No, no. Dad’s scared of snakes, mate,” a man chips in.
But the Aussies seem to take it in their stride, the clip ending with a man saying: “C’mon, your quiche is getting cold.”
The video was shared to TikTok on Monday with the caption: Only in Australia will you see a 5 metre long carpet snake in the suburbs.
It’s already been watched more than 20 million times, with people flocking to comment on the slippery creature.
“Carpet SNAKE? Ma’am that is a DINOSAUR,” one wrote.
“How does anyone make it to adulthood in Australia? I am not strong enough to survive this continent,” said another.
“I miss five minutes ago when I didn’t know these exist,” someone else shared.
“I won’t sleep tonight and I’m in the States,” said one American.
“Has anybody seen the cat?” joked an Aussie.
While one comment accurately summed up the reactions: “Mental note. Never go to Australia.”
