The Sporting News is the oldest sporting publication in the United States. Initially known as the essential source for baseball coverage, in the 1940s it began to cover a wider array of sports, including college sports, the NBA, NFL, NHL, motorsports, golf, tennis, boxing and many others.

March 17, 1886: Founded in St. Louis by Alfred H. Spink as a weekly U.S. newspaper.
Became the dominant sports publication: “The Nation’s Oldest & Finest Sports Paper” and “The Bible of Baseball.”
1904: Charles Conlon’s MLB portraits featured within TSN, become treasured symbols in sport.
