If you are an aisle seat traveller, there is a hidden button on Virgin Australia’s Boeing 737 fleet you need to know about.
While it may not look like it at first glance, you can actually lift and lower the armrest.
The button is just tucked away underneath at the back.
No more awkwardly getting your bag stuck as you try to squeeze in and out your seat!
The airline shared the tip on TikTok using a viral sound about “life hacks”.
“More people need to see this,” commented one traveller.
“THANK YOU! I can undo this and relax in the air,” wrote a second.
“Why would you tell them? Everyone was asking me how to do it,” another person joked.
One flyer explained they had done it to get out their row easier ever since they spotted a flight attendant do it.
Another person said there were similar hidden ways that the armrest could be lifted and lowered on other airlines too, including Emirates and British Airways.
Virgin Australia Melbourne cabin manager Dinh described it to news.com.au as a “simple hack with a spacious reward”.
“Sitting in the aisle seat and need a quick escape?” he joked.
“There’s a magic button located underneath the arm rest which will allow you to raise or lower the armrest.
“Show off your seat flex by having a super convenient and spacious way of getting in and out of your seat.”
Dinh’s other travel tips include selecting extra legroom seats in front of the economy cabin while travelling internationally to disembark faster and avoid queues at immigration and customs. Plus, you get fed first during food service on domestic flights too.
If you’re travelling with a friend, Dinh encourages passengers to consider two aisle seats in the same row.
“You’ll have the luxuries of being next to your bestie without intruding on each other’s space,” he said.
