The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Auki Police Operations Team has successfully arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on 27th January 2026.
The incident involved two male victims who were injured while attempting to intervene in a separate brawl.
The first victim, a 20-year-old male, sustained a serious injury to his right shoulder, while the second victim, a 30-year-old male, was stabbed on the right side of his back. Both victims were immediately transported to Rohinari Health Clinic for treatment.
The 20-year-old male victim with the serious injury was further referred to National Referral Hospital (NRH) for treatment due to the seriousness of his injury.
Investigations by RSIPF revealed that the suspect, initially involved in a separate argument, turned his anger towards the two innocent bystanders after the first incident.
Following diligent efforts, RSIPF Auki Police arrested the suspect at his residence in Wairokai Village on 2nd February 2026, despite challenges posed by prolonged bad weather conditions.
The suspect has now been charged with grievous harm contrary to Section 226 of the Penal Code and unlawful wounding contrary to Section 229 of the Penal Code.
He is currently remanded at Auki Correctional Centre pending further legal proceedings.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita praised the RSIPF officers involved for their dedication and professionalism in apprehending the suspect.
He also extended his appreciation to the community leaders of Wairokai Village for their support.
PPC Malaita further urged all community leaders to report criminal activities promptly and ensure proper statements are provided to assist RSIPF in building strong cases. He also appealed to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to avoid involvement in illegal activities.
