A government quarters in Domain has been identified to be the centre.

In a statement, Ms Kiran acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, led by Atonio Lalabalavu, as the initiative moves into its next phase.

“Much appreciation to the Honourable Minister for Health and Medical Services, Hon Atonio Lalabalavu, and his team for their support and guidance as we proceed with developing drug recovery centres for adolescent boys and girls with Empower Pacific,” Ms Kiran said.

She said the project had taken several months of planning, construction and capacity-building work.

“After months of work we are finally ready for residential care facilities,” she said.

Ms Kiran also revealed that a day-care recovery facility is expected to become fully operational later this month.

“A day care recovery facility is expected to be fully operational later this month after planning, construction and capacity building work over the past year,” she said.

The centres are aimed at providing structured recovery and rehabilitation support for adolescents struggling with substance abuse, as part of the Government’s broader efforts to address drug-related harm among young people.
