A digital content creation training program targeting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and freelancers is underway in Gizo, Western Province.
The training is being held at the Tinokae Conference room.
The training is organized by the E-Commerce Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen digital capacity and online business participation across the provinces.
The program aims to equip local entrepreneurs and freelancers with practical skills in creating effective digital content for marketing, branding, and online sales.
Participants will receive hands-on training in content planning, photography, video production, and social media storytelling—skills considered essential for business growth in today’s digital economy.
Speaking to Solomon Star in an interview on Monday Tristien Zutu E- Commerce National Coordinator highlighted the importance of empowering local businesses to effectively promote their products and services online, particularly as digital platforms continue to play a growing role in commerce.
Mr. Zutu said, the training is expected to provide participants with practical knowledge they can immediately apply to improve their online presence and expand market reach.
He expressed optimism for an interactive and impactful training and encouraged participants to make full use of the opportunity to enhance their digital skills and share their stories with wider audiences.
The training was first held last year in Honiara and Auki in Malaita Province, which formed the first cohort.
This week, its Gizo turn.
Zutu added that Gizo will be the final pilot site for the project.
“Other provinces will be included at a later stage,” he added.
The four days training will end this Thursday.
