Fourth China Medical Team Conducts Community Free Clinicat Gilbert Camp – Solomon Star News

The 4th China Medical Team carried out a free medical clinic at the South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) in the Gilbert Camp community on Sunday, January 18th, 2026, under the pouring rain in Honiara.

The health check was conducted in collaboration with Solomon Islands Chinese Women’s Association.

To ensure that medical services precisely met community needs, the medical team, with the assistance of the Chinese Women’s Association, conducted advance field visits and surveys in the community.

They identified common and frequently occurring diseases as well as gaps in local medical resources, and carefully planned the clinic location and service priorities.

During consultations, team members worked collaboratively with rigor and care, providing examinations and consultations for common and chronic diseases prevalent in the area, and tailoring treatment plans to individual patients.

For those requiring medication, the team distributed appropriate medicines free of charge, carefully explaining dosages, administration methods, and precautions.

They repeatedly emphasized daily health and self-care guidance to ensure safe, scientific medication use and proper recovery.

The Gilbert Camp community is densely populated, and local clinics sometimes face long waiting times and shortages of certain medicines. “Today we received three precious gifts,” said community leader Clement Oikali, “First, free professional medical services; second, your friendly and enthusiastic attitude; and third, your selfless help.

“I know you treated patients with many different conditions and brought much-needed medicines.

“These medicines will relieve suffering from illness and bring health to everyone. This deep friendship will always be remembered.”

“The core of China’s medical aid is ‘people-centered,’ ” said Zhao Xueke, head of the China Medical Team.

He noted that the team hopes to genuinely improve local residents’ medical experience through standardized and professional primary healthcare services, contributing to pragmatic cooperation in health between China and Solomon Islands.

In the future, the team will continue to leverage its professional strengths and carry out more free clinics, using China’s expertise to support the development of Solomon Islands’ health sector and to further strengthen friendship between the two countries.

Local residents at the scene praised the China Medical Team for their professionalism and selfless dedication, with many remarking, “Chinese doctors are attentive and thorough in their explanations. We hope there will be more free clinics like this in the future.”

Though the clinic has concluded, the warmth and sense of responsibility shown by China and Solomon Islands working together for the people have been deeply etched in the hearts of local residents, becoming a vivid testament to the friendship between the two nations.
