The Fiji Meteorological Service has this morning downgraded the flash flood warning that was previously in force for the whole of Fiji to a flash flood alert.
In a statement, Fiji Met said Tropical Depression TD03F is now located to the northwest of Yasawa-i-Rara and is gradually passing to the north of the country.
Associated trough with rain bands is expected to continue affecting parts of the Fiji Group until later Thursday.
Despite the downgrade, authorities have warned that isolated heavy rain may still trigger flash flooding in some areas.
Possible impacts include flooding of drainage systems, small streams, low water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Fiji Met is urging members of the public, especially motorists and residents in vulnerable areas, to remain cautious and stay alert to changing weather conditions as heavy rain persists in parts of the country.
